LAMAN, South Waziristan – Ilyas Kashmiri, chief of the Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami (HJI) and an al-Qaeda operational commander, was reportedly killed in an aerial strike in South Waziristan Agency the night of June 3, according to media, which cited local officials and eyewitnesses.
An HJI spokesman confirmed June 4 that Kashmiri had been killed, Dawn reported; however, Pakistani officials said they cannot yet confirm Kashmiri’s death, other media reported.
